Chafford Hundred Bonfire Night 2022

Every year in Chafford Hundred, on November 5, we come together to celebrate Bonfire Night, all over the county of Essex we gather around the bonfire.

The main reason why Guy Fawkes failed in his attempt to assassinate King James I is that it is a way to celebrate the failure.

This happened in 1605 and people have been celebrating Bonfire Nights ever since.

There was a lot of anger against the king because he was seen as being against the Catholics.

Robert Catesby and Guy Fawkes were both Catholics who believed in an armed struggle to restore Catholicism to its rightful place.

Some people came up with a plan to blow up the Palace.

The plan was to kill the king when he was there.

A conspiracy member sent a letter to the parliament, however, he got cold feet.

After they learned about the plan, the other conspirators were taken into custody.

The Parliament shared that the conspirators were caught and punished in a public statement.

The Parliament decided that the 5th of November would be a day to be thankful for.

We went to the Bonfire Night because of that.

Over the years, Bonfire Night has become a community focused event despite the fact that it is sinister in nature.

The firework manufacturers decided to change the celebration's name to Fireworks Night at the beginning of the 20th century because they wanted to make it more fun.

• The bonfires are used to cook all kinds of food and are not just a symbol of the failed complot. A lot of people make soup for the people watching the fireworks. Some people cook potatoes in a foil, as well as marshmallows or sausages. The parking cake is a traditional cake that people eat during the Bonfire Night. A cake with syrup, ginger, oatmeal and treacle is very tasty.

The Bonfire Night events are more than a celebration with bonfires and fireworks.

The jacket potato is one of the things that are associated with the Bonfire Night.

These are eaten throughout the country, and some regions even have their own special meals prepared around the 5th of November.
