Every year in Cockyard, on November 5, we come together to celebrate Bonfire Night, all over the county of Derbyshire we gather around the bonfire.
The annual event that has been adopted as an annual event over the years is the Bonfire Night.
What does it mean to people and why do they love these festivities so much?
You can get up to speed on the reasons behind the amazing popularity of the Bonfire Night with a quick rundown.
The main reason why Guy Fawkes failed in his attempt to assassinate King James I is because of the Bonfire Night celebrations.
The Bonfire Night was celebrated in 1605 and has been ever since.
At that time, there was a lot of anger against the king, since he was thought to be against the Catholics.
There was a vision that only an armed struggle would bring Catholicism back to its rightful place.
The two and other supporters came up with a plan to blow up the Palace.
The king was present so the plan was to kill him.
A conspiracy member sent a letter to the parliament, however, he got cold feet.
The conspirators were taken into custody here once they learned about the plan.
The Parliament said that the conspirators were caught and punished.
The Parliament decided to make the 5th of November a day to be thankful for, and therefore the tradition to light up bonfires.
We eventually went to the Bonfire Night.
In places like Derbyshire, Bonfire Night activities are enjoyed.

The Bonfire Night events are more than a celebration with fireworks.
