Every year in Eastwood, on November 5, we come together to celebrate Bonfire Night, with fireworks lighting up the skies across the county of Essex.
The Bonfire Night has become an annual event over the years.
What does it mean to people and why do they love these festivities so much?
You can get up to speed with the reasons behind the amazing popularity of the Bonfire Night with a quick list.
It is a way to celebrate the failure of Guy Fawkes as he tried to assassinate King James I, while also trying to blow up the parliament.
In 1605 this happened, and people have been celebrating Bonfire Night ever since.
There was a lot of anger against the king due to the fact that he was against Catholics.
Robert and Guy were Catholics who believed in an armed struggle to restore Catholicism to its rightful place.
The supporters came up with a plan to blow up the Palace.
The plan was to kill the king when he was there.
A conspiracy member sent a letter to the parliament after he got cold feet.
The conspirators were taken into custody here after they learned about the plan.
The Parliament made a public statement about the situation and shared that the conspirators had been caught and punished.
The Parliament decided to make the 5th of November a day to be thankful for, and therefore the tradition of lighting up bonfires.
We eventually went to the Bonfire Night.
There are many Bonfire Night activities in the UK.
Despite the fact that Bonfire Night's origins are sinister, it has become a community event over the years.
The celebration was renamed at the beginning of the 20th century by firework manufacturers to "Bonfire Night or the Fireworks Night" because the focus was on having fun.
The event of the 20th century looked very similar to what we are seeing today.
The events of the Bonfire Night are more than just a celebration with bonfires and fireworks.
There are many different foods associated with this event.
The jacket potato, parkin, black peas, and treacle toffee are all associated with the Bonfire Night.
These are eaten throughout the country, and some regions have their own special meals prepared around the 5th of November as well.
Some families share their soups with friends and family members.
People use flaming torches, fireworks and sparklers when they parade in costumes at Bonfire Night.
This is a clear nod to the failure of Guy Fawkes and his band as they attempted to blow up the Parliament, a celebration of independence, but in a safe manner.
The majority of the time, these events end with a firework display and large bonfire.
People tend to dress up in different costumes depending on where they live.
This is in preparation for the events, and it is interesting.
The Bonfire Night is a great time for most people to show off their winter clothes.
A winter knit with a classical touch is usually the right way to go here.
Even though you don't have to dress up in a costume, a proper outfit that protects you against the cold weather is more than welcome.
There are a lot of amazing attractions and events in the UK.
In the countryside, you usually have large bonfires and local events with food and drinks shared with the community.
For a lot of people, Bonfire Night has become a community event, where everyone has a great time, and they enjoy the presence of other like-minded people.
You will get to enjoy some great firework displays, with some regions going out of their way to use incredible firework displays for a night to remember.
Every year, Bonfire Night continues to become a staple event.
It is a great time for people to connect, celebrate and enjoy some great food.
Over the years, it has been one of those events that people have been impressed with.
Even if the origins of the event are a bit darker, there is no denying that the event has evolved into a more community-friendly event.
