Every year in Frimley Green, on November 5, we come together to celebrate Bonfire Night, all over the county of Surrey we gather around the bonfire.

You can get up to speed with the reasons behind the amazing popularity of the Bonfire Night by reading this short article.
The main reason why Guy Fawkes failed in his attempt to assassinate King James I is because of the Bonfire Night celebrations.
This happened in 1605 and people have been celebrating ever since.
What happened at that time is that there was a lot of anger against the king, since many considered he was intolerant against the Catholics.
Robert and Guy Fawkes were Catholics who believed in an armed struggle to bring Catholicism back to its rightful place.
The two people came up with a plan to blow up the Palace of Westminster.
The plan was to assassinate the king during the process.
A conspiracy member sent a letter to the parliament, but was cold feet.
The conspirators were taken into custody here once they learned about the plan.
The Parliament stated that the conspirators were caught and punished.
The Parliament decided to make the 5th of November a day to be thankful for and therefore the tradition to light bonfires.
It led us to the Bonfire Night.
Nowadays Bonfire Night activities are enjoyed throughout the UK.
Over the years, Bonfire Night has become a community focused event despite the fact that its origins are sinister in nature.
The celebration was renamed to Fireworks Night at the beginning of the 20th century because of its focus on having fun.
In the 20th century, the event looked similar to what we are experiencing today.
bonfires and fireworks are not the only things that are celebrated at the Bonfire Night events.
There are lots of foods associated with the event.
The jacket potato, parkin, black peas and treacle toffee are all associated with the Bonfire Night.
These are eaten all over the country, and some regions have their own special meals prepared around the 5th of November.
Some families share their soups with friends and other family members.
Depending on where you live, people tend to dress up in different costumes during Bonfire Night.

The Bonfire Night is a great place for people to show off their winter clothes.
Something to keep in mind is that a winter knit with a classical touch is usually the right way to go here.
If you want to protect yourself against the cold weather, a proper outfit is more than welcome.
People parade in costumes and use flaming torches, fireworks and sparklers during Bonfire Night.
This is a clear nod to the failure of Guy Fawkes and his band as they tried to blow up the Parliament, a celebration of independence, but in a safe manner.
The majority of the time, these Bonfire Night events end with a firework display.
