Every year in Fulwell, on November 5, we come together to celebrate Bonfire Night, with fireworks lighting up the skies across the county of Somerset.
Over the years, the Bonfire Night has evolved into an annual event.
But what is it that makes people love these celebrations so much?
You can get up to speed with the reasons behind the popularity of the Bonfire Night here.
It is a way to celebrate the failure of Guy Fawkes as he tried to assassinate King James I and also to blow up the parliament.
In 1605 this happened, and people have celebrated the Bonfire Night ever since.
There was a lot of anger against the king due to the fact he was against the Catholics.
Robert Catesby and Guy Fawkes were Catholics who believed in an armed struggle to bring about the return of Catholicism to its rightful place.
Some people came up with a plan to blow up the palace.
The plan was to kill the king when he was there.
The conspiracy member got cold feet and sent a letter to the parliament.
The other conspirators ended up being taken into custody here after they learned about the plan.
The Parliament made a public statement regarding the situation, shared the fact that the conspirators were caught and punished.
The Parliament decided to light up bonfires on the 5th of November in order to be thankful.
It eventually led to the Bonfire Night.
Nowadays there are Bonfire Night activities in the UK.
Bonfire Night has become a community focused event despite the fact that its origins are sinister.
The celebration was renamed to Fireworks Night at the beginning of the 20th century due to the fact that it was focused on having fun.
The event of the 20th century looked a lot like what we are seeing today.
You're going to find a lot of great attractions and events in the UK.
In the countryside, you usually have large bonfires and local events, food and drinks being shared with the community, as well as smaller events.
For a lot of people, Bonfire Night has become a community event where everyone has a great time and they enjoy the presence of other people.
You will also be able to enjoy some great firework displays with some regions going out of their way to use incredible pyrotechnics for a night to remember.
During Bonfire Night, people parade in costumes and use flaming torches, fireworks, and sparklers.
It is clear that this is a nod to the failure of Guy Fawkes and his band as they tried to blow up the Parliament, a celebration of independence, but in a safe way.
Most of the time, these events end with a firework display and large bonfire.
The interesting thing to note about Bonfire Night is that people tend to dress up in various costumes, depending on where they live.
This approach is quite interesting, and it is being prepared for the events.
Most people like to show off their winter wardrobe during the Bonfire Night.
Something to keep in mind is the fact that a winter knit with a classical touch is the right way to go here.
A proper outfit that protects you against the cold weather is more than welcome, even though you don't have to dress up.
The celebration with bonfires and fireworks is not the only thing happening.
There are lots of foods associated with this event.
The jacket potato, parkin, black peas, treacle toffee and the toffee apples are some of the things associated with the Bonfire Night.
Some regions have their own special meals that they prepare around the 5th of November, and these are eaten throughout the country.
Some families share their soups with friends and family members.
Every year, Bonfire Night continues to be a staple event.
It is a great time for people to connect, celebrate and enjoy some great foods.
Over the years, it has been one of the most impressive events.
Even if the origins of this event are a bit darker, there is no denying that over the years the event has become a more community-friendly event.
The most important parts of the event are happiness and a good time, and we can expect this event to continue for many years to come.
