Every year in Hempstead, on November 5, we come together to celebrate Bonfire Night, with fireworks lighting up the skies across the county of Kent.

A member of the conspiracy sent a letter to the parliament but ended up getting cold feet.

The other conspirators were taken into custody after learning about the plan.

The Parliament made a public statement and shared that the conspirators were caught and punished.

The Parliament decided to light up bonfires on the 5th of November due to being a day to be thankful for.

We decided to attend the Bonfire Night.

• The bonfires are not just meant to be a symbol of the failed complot, but they are also used to cook all kinds of food. Crowds come by to see the fireworks and a lot of people heat up soup for them. Some people cook potatoes in a foil and also marshmallows or sausages. The parking cake is a traditional cake that people eat on the night of the bonfire. A cake with syrup, ginger, oatmeal, and treacle is very tasty.
• It is very common for people in the UK to make and burn an effigy of a man. This effigy is made out of straw or paper and stuffed with old clothes, it is meant to represent Guy Fawkes.
• There are firework displays all over the country, with the biggest cities getting some of the largest displays. There are bonfires and amazing firework displays all over the country.

Which foods are popular during the night?

The events of bonfires and fireworks are not the only celebrations of the night.

There are many foods associated with the event.

The jacket potato, parkin, black peas, treacle toffee and the toffee apples are all associated with Bonfire Night.

These are eaten all over the country, and some regions have their own special meals prepared around the 5th of November.
