Every year in Hollington, on November 5, we come together to celebrate Bonfire Night, all over the county of East Sussex we gather around the bonfire.
The Bonfire Night is an annual event that has been adopted as an incredible event over the years.
What is it that makes people love these celebrations so much?
You can get up to speed on the reasons behind the amazing popularity of the Bonfire Night with a quick rundown.
The main reason why Guy Fawkes failed in his attempt to assassinate King James I is that it is a way to celebrate Bonfire Night.
People have celebrated the Bonfire Night since 1605.
There was a lot of anger towards the king due to the fact that he was against the Catholics.
Robert Catesby and Guy Fawkes were Catholics who believed in an armed struggle to bring Catholicism back to it's rightful place.
The supporters came up with a plan to blow up the Palace of Commons.
The plan was to assassinate the king, who was in attendance.
However, a conspiracy member got cold feet and sent a letter to the parliament.
The conspirators were taken into custody after they learned of the plan.
The Parliament made a statement about the situation and shared that the conspirators were caught.
Also, the Parliament chose to declare the 5th of November as a day to be thankful for, and hence the tradition to light up bonfires.
Which led to the Bonfire Night.
There are a lot of Bonfire Night activities in the UK.
Over the years, Bonfire Night has become a community focused event despite its sinister beginnings.
The celebration was renamed at the beginning of the 20th century because of the focus on having fun.
As the 20th century progressed, the event looked more and more similar to what we are experiencing today.
People wear costumes and use flaming torches, fireworks and sparklers on Bonfire Night.
It is obvious that this is a nod to the failure of the band that tried to blow up the Parliament as a celebration of independence.
Most of the time, these events include a firework display and large bonfire.
There are more than just bonfires and fireworks at the Bonfire Night events.
There are many things associated with this event.
The jacket potato, parkin, black peas, treacle toffee, and toffee apples are all associated with the Bonfire Night.
These are eaten throughout the country, and some regions have their own special meals that they prepare around the 5th of November as well.
It is important to note that some families share their soups with other family members.
People tend to dress up in various costumes depending on where they live on Bonfire Night.
This approach is quite interesting, and is being prepared for the events.
The Bonfire Night is a great time for most people to show off their winter clothes.
It's important to keep in mind that a winter knit with a classical touch is usually the right way to go here.
A proper outfit that protects you against the cold weather is more than welcome and you don't have to dress up in a costume.
The UK has a lot of amazing attractions and events.
In the countryside, you usually have large bonfires and local events, food and drinks being shared by the community.
It has become a community-focused event for a lot of people because they enjoy the presence of other like-minded people.
