Every year in Illogan, on November 5, we come together to celebrate Bonfire Night, with fireworks lighting up the skies across the county of Cornwall.
Over the years the Bonfire Night has become an annual event.
What is it that makes people love these festivities so much?
Here are a few things you can do to get up to speed with the Bonfire Night.
The main reason why Guy Fawkes failed in his attempt to assassinate King James I is that he wanted to blow up the parliament.
People have celebrated the Bonfire Night since 1605.
There was a lot of anger against the king, since he was seen as being anti-Catholic.
Robert and Guy were Catholics who believed in an armed struggle to restore Catholicism to its rightful place.
The two supporters came up with a plan to blow up the Palace of Westminster.
The plan was to assassinate the king during the process.
A conspiracy member sent a letter to the parliament but ended up cold feet.
The conspirators were taken into custody when they learned of the plan.
The Parliament stated that the conspirators were caught and punished.
The Parliament decided to light up bonfires on the 5th of November in honor of being thankful for it.
We were eventually led to the Bonfire Night.
In the UK, Bonfire Night activities are enjoyed all over the place.
Over the years it has become a community focused event despite the fact that its origins are sinister.
The firework manufacturers decided to change the celebration's name to Fireworks Night at the beginning of the 20th century due to the focus on having fun.
The event of the 20th century was more similar to what we are seeing today.
There are some great attractions and events in the UK.
In the countryside, there are usually large bonfires and local events with food and drinks shared with the community.
For a lot of people, Bonfire Night has become a community-focused event where everyone has a great time and they enjoy the presence of other people.
You will be able to enjoy some great firework displays, with some regions going out of their way to use incredible fireworks for a night to remember.
During Bonfire Night people use flaming torches, fireworks and sparklers.
It's clear that this is a nod to the failure of Guy Fawkes and his band as they tried to blow up the Parliament, a celebration of independence, but in a safe manner.
Most of the time, these events end with a large bonfire and a firework display.
The events of bonfires and fireworks are not the only celebrations of the night.
There are a lot of foods associated with this event.
The jacket potato, parkin, black peas, treacle toffee, and the toffee apples are all associated with Bonfire Night.
These are eaten throughout the country and some regions have their own special meals prepared around the 5th of November.
Some families eat soups too and share them with friends or other family members.
The interesting thing to note about Bonfire Night is that people tend to dress up in various costumes, depending on where they live.
It is quite interesting that this is in preparation for the events.
The Bonfire Night is a great time for people to show off their winter clothing.
A winter knit with a classical touch is usually the right way to go here, and certainly something to keep in mind.
A proper outfit that protects you against the cold weather is more than welcome, even though you don't have to dress up in a costume.
Every year, Bonfire Night continues, and has become a staple event over the years.
It is a great time for people to celebrate and enjoy some great foods.
Over the years it has impressed people.
Even if the origins of this event are a bit darker, there is no denying that the event has become a more community-friendly event over the years.
