Every year in New Inn, on November 5, we come together to celebrate Bonfire Night, all over the county of Torfaen we gather around the bonfire.
The Bonfire Night has become an annual event over the years and is one of those incredible celebrations.
Why do people love these celebrations so much, and what does it mean?
You can get up to speed with the reasons behind its popularity with this quick rundown.
The main reason why Guy Fawkes tried to assassinate King James I is that it is a way to celebrate the failure of the event.
In 1605 this happened and people have celebrated the night ever since.
At that time, there was a lot of anger against the king because he was seen as being against the Catholics.
Robert Catesby and Guy Fawkes were Catholics who believed in an armed struggle to bring about the return of Catholicism to the rightful place.
The two supporters came up with a plan to blow up the Palace.
The plan was to kill the king because he was there.
A conspiracy member sent a letter to the parliament, but ended up cold feet.
The other conspirators were taken into custody after they learned of the plan.
The Parliament shared that the conspirators were caught and punished in a public statement.
The Parliament decided to make the 5th of November a day to be thankful for, and therefore the tradition to light bonfires.
We went to the Bonfire Night.
Nowadays Bonfire Night activities are enjoyed throughout the UK.
Despite the fact that Bonfire Night's origins are sinister, it has become a community event over the years.
The celebration was renamed at the beginning of the 20th century by firework manufacturers to Bonfire Night or the Fireworks Night because it was focused on having fun.
The event of the 20th century was more similar to what we are seeing today.
You are bound to find some amazing attractions and events throughout the UK.
In the countryside, you mostly have large bonfires and local events, food and drinks shared with the community.
For a lot of people, Bonfire Night has become a community event where everyone has a good time and they enjoy the presence of other like-minded people.
You will be able to enjoy some great firework displays with some regions going out of their way to use incredible fireworks for a night to remember.
People wear costumes and use fireworks, flaming torches, and sparklers on Bonfire Night.
It is obvious that this is a nod to the failure of Guy Fawkes and his band as they tried to blow up the Parliament, a celebration of independence, but in a safe way.
Most of the time, these events include a firework display and large bonfire.
The Bonfire Night events are more than just a celebration with fireworks.
There are plenty of foods associated with this event as well.
The jacket potato, parkin, black peas, treacle toffee, and the toffee apples are some of the things that are associated with the Bonfire Night.
Some regions have their own special meals to be prepared around the 5th of November.
It is important to note that some families share their soups with friends and family.
Depending on where they live, people tend to dress up in various costumes.
This approach is quite interesting and is in preparation for the events.
The Bonfire Night is a great chance for people to show off their winter clothes.
Something to keep in mind is that a winter knit with a classical touch is usually the right way to go here in winter.
You don't have to wear a costume, but a proper outfit that protects you against the cold weather is more than welcome.
A staple event over the years, Bonfire Night continues every year.
It is a great time for people to connect, celebrate and enjoy some great foods.
Over the years, it has impressed many people.
Even if the origins of this event are a bit darker, there is no denying that over the years it has evolved into a more community-friendly event.
The most important parts of the event are happiness and a good time, and we can expect this to continue for years and years to come.
