Every year in Northfield, on November 5, we come together to celebrate Bonfire Night, all over the county of West Midlands we gather around the bonfire.
The Bonfire Night has become an annual event over the years because of it's incredible festivities.

The main reason why Guy Fawkes tried to assassinate King James I is that it is a way to celebrate the failure of that attempt.
In 1605 people celebrated the Bonfire Night.
There was a lot of anger against the king due to the fact he was against the Catholics.
Robert Catesby and Guy Fawkes were both Catholics who believed in an armed struggle to bring Catholicism back to it's rightful place.
Two of the supporters came up with a plan to blow up the Palace.
The plan was to kill the king while he was there.
A conspiracy member got cold feet after sending a letter to the parliament.
The other conspirators were taken into custody here once they learned about the plan.
The Parliament shared that the conspirators were caught and punished in a public statement.
The Parliament decided to light up bonfires on the 5th of November in order to be thankful.

Despite the fact that Bonfire Night's origins are sinister, it has become a community focused event over the years.
The celebration was renamed to Fireworks Night at the beginning of the 20th century because the focus was on having fun.
